12 Step Clever Wardrobe Challenge

My friend started a fall fashion challenge on her blog My Clever Disguise. Now, I'm definitely no fashion blogger, but I thought this was a great opportunity for me to step up my fashion game. It's easy to fall into a rut, especially when you're plus-size. But, one cannot live in yoga pants alone. So, let's get started with Step 1.

"Describe yourself and your lifestyle. If you have a job that requires a certain type of clothing, that is going to affect your choices. Give us an idea of what is important to you when it comes to clothing. You can also describe your personal taste."

I work in a small, independent pet store, where the dress code is very casual. Since there is some light cleaning and lifting involved, I don't want to wear anything too fussy that will get in the way. That said, I want to get away from the jeans and t-shirt uniform. I find that when I'm dressed nicer, I feel better. So, what I'm looking for is t-shirt alternatives. Light, cotton tops that are comfortable and easy to throw on, but look more put together than a boxy t-shirt.

I do pretty well in obvious dressing up situations, like going out to a nice dinner. But, one thing I want to work on is accessorizing. I tend to forget to put any on, or am not sure how to put a look together.

Are you in a fall fashion rut? Join the challenge!

Insta-Friday #12

My week in iPhone photos. Instagram: PugLife85

Pug is a blanket sucker.

I spotted these nude wedges in Marshall's the other night, and they had to come home with me.

I let Pug ride along with me to Taco Bell. He did not behave himself.

Sometimes, when I'm really hungry at work, the dog treats start to look really good.

Molly got a haircut and a new collar.

I saw this ad in the new issue of Lucky. I am in love, but according to my research these Coach Legacy sunglasses do not exist. WHY would they tease me like this?

12:01pm Central time. Are you guys excited to update to iOS6??

Finally cool enough to start on my new vanity/desk. So excited!

Pug Reviews: Snout Soother

Pug has had a funky nose since I found him. I just thought his nose was weird and didn't think much of it. Then, I saw a post from The Daily Puglet about "nose funk" which apparently is an actual condition called nasal hyperkeratosis.

I first tried using Vaseline to treat it, which worked okay, but not great. I was weary of shelling out the money for the Snout Soother Puglet recommended because I didn't think it would be that much better.

Well, I'm happy to report that I was wrong! I picked up a tin of Snout Soother last week and I am so impressed with the results. Just look at the before and after:

Pug's got a whole new nose!

The only issue I've had is keeping him from licking it off.
Appparently, it's tasty.
 Really tasty.

Insta-Friday #11

Giving back, by giving blood.

Saw this at the auto-parts store. Fight breast cancer and muggers!

This is Petunia. She was one of three pugs at work today. I wanted to sneak her out in my bag. She was too dang cute!

We went to Olive Garden for dinner. I got the never ending pasta bowl. This is as much as I could finish of my first bowl.

The waitress laughed at me.

I still feel like I won though, because a regular order of fettuccine alfredo costs more for the same size.Who's laughing now!

My tomato plant hasn't had a bug on it all summer. Of course, it also hasn't had any tomatoes. Now that the heat has broken and we've gotten rain, it's got a few blooms. And this jerk caterpillar.

Enjoying my peppers?

I woke up this morning with my head resting on only the bottom few inches of my pillow. When I sat up, I realized why.

Giving Back

Friday I left to run a few errands, and happened upon a Red Cross Blood Donation bus.

I see signs once in a while announcing a blood drive at the library or other locations, and always think, "gee, I should really donate blood again".

Maybe watching two weeks of political conventions, hearing all about how resilient and awesome Americans are, had an effect on me. Whatever the reason, I was compelled to stop.

While I was enjoying my free juice and cookies, I met an older man who was donating his 206th pint of blood. He also volunteers for the Red Cross during disasters. He spent 8 weeks in New York City after 9/11.

I've never felt more like a slacker. It's taken me this long just to stop and give one measly pint of blood.

But, it's a start. According to the Red Cross, one pint of blood can save up to 3 lives. That's a lot of impact for just an hour of my day.

Insta-Friday #10

Ok, I'm totally cheating by only posting Insta-Friday posts lately, but I hope to start a new DIY project this weekend that I'm really excited to feature. Until then, here is my last couple of weeks in iPhone photos.

We have an unusually high number of amphibians in our yard. This guy thought he was going to make himself welcome in my house. Don't think so, Toad.

If Pug doesn't have a bed to lay on, he will find something and make a nest. Usually it's a piece of dirty laundry. Since he likes laying on these pajama pants, Jason decided to put them on him.

Pug put in a long day of work and he could not handle it.

 Oh, hey Isaac.

Pug toofs!

I made this treat at work. My chocolate (actually carob) dripped and made it look like I'm really unenthusiastic about this dog's birthday.

Radar said the area was totally clear, but I have my doubts about its accuracy.

Hi.

Subway creeper

Frog leg!
