Insta-Friday #5

My week in iPhone photos. Lots of food photos this week... I guess I ate well!

"Date Night" with my best friend. I guess I could call it girls night, but that sounds a lot wilder than what we get up to... which is getting dolled up for dinner and a walk through Target. Two wild and crazy gals, us.

Speaking of Target, check out my new hat for lounging by the pool.

I've been slacking about brushing Pug's teeth regularly. You can see here why; he's not a big fan.

My mom was stuck at work, so I was on foster puppy duty.

You know it's summer when the Tropical Sno stands start popping up around town. They're all over around here, and I can eat them every day. Yum.

A couple friends and I went to Cherokee Street in St. Louis for Mexican food, and it was so hot, I couldn't pass up this strawberry paleta at La Vallesana. I want to go back soon to try more flavors, particularly mango!

While we were on Cherokee we picked up a bottle of this Sangria soda for Jason. It's one of his faves, and Shop n Save stopped selling it in their Mexican section! If you can find it, give it a try. It tastes like sweet sangria, minus the bite since there's no wine.

My first harvest is approaching! You can find out more about my patio garden here and here.

Someone's daddy was sneaking him french fries.

Insta-Friday #4

Pug's most hated activity. Nail trims. It took two people to hold him and he still managed to nibble the groomer's hand.

 Greek food. Nom.

The funny part is, it's not even that noticeable.

Strawberry Mojito

A local town had a city-wide yard sale on Saturday. I was in the market for furniture I could repaint for when we move into a new house. As per usual, when I go thrift shopping for a specific item, I find everything but. Oh well, I guess that's the thrill of the hunt.

Above is a roulette wheel and game case I picked up for $5. It still has the game book and the copyright is 1944! I can't believe the tiny roulette ball hasn't gotten lost in over 60 years. It's really fun to play with, I keep picking it up to spin it while I watch TV.

Someone was selling these containers of sour cherries for $3 each. I snapped them up. I never find sour cherries in the stores here, and if I did I'm sure they'd be outrageously expensive. I got to make my first "real" cherry pie and it was delicious!

How awesome are these girls? This pattern is from 1967 and I couldn't leave it behind. I plan on framing it and hanging it near my sewing machine.

You've got to appreciate the juxtaposition of classy and hillybilly in this houndstooth duct tape. I used it to line my new craft case from an old suitcase.

Who doesn't love Sonic Happy Hour? Rte 44 Diet Strawberry Limeaid. Or, as I like to call it - "bucket size".

First corn on the cob of Summer. So good.

Gotta love summer road projects. Not. I was taking my mom's foster puppy to Stray Rescue for a vet checkup.

Luckily, he didn't seem to mind.

DIY: Suitcase to Craft Case

Back in April, I began searching for an old suitcase to turn into a craft case.

Some time after that, my friend Katie found this gem at Goodwill for $8, and I told her to grab it!

It's been sitting in the closet for a while, and I finally got around to transforming it. I decided to leave the outside as-is, because I kind of dig the vintage blue.

On the inside, I didn't have to do much work. I cut the straps out, but I left the divider and the cloth sections since they were in good shape and functional for my storage needs.

It didn't really need a lining, but when I spotted this houndstooth duct tape at the craft store,a light bulb went off and I knew I had to have it.

For organization, I picked up these plastic food containers from Dollar Tree.

I wanted to affix the containers with Velcro, so they wouldn't move around when the case was closed. But, I could still remove them entirely to get at their contents easily.

So, I cut a strip of self-adhesive Velcro to fit the length of each container.  I found it easiest to put both sides on the container first.

Then, press the container into the case where you want it to be stuck. This will affix the bottom Velcro to the case.

Once all the containers are attached with Velcro, you're done!

As you can see, I ran out of duct tape before I was totally finished. So, I chose that side to be covered in containers, since it would be less noticeable.

Now, it's time to fill it up. My case is still pretty empty, I guess it's time to do some more shopping!

Insta-Friday #3

My week in iPhone photos.

Parsley, Basil and Mint from my patio garden.

Passion of the Popcorn.

Any day that starts with a perfectly executed wing liner on the first try, is bound to be a good day. And it was! Lunch and shopping with mom.

Finally repainted my toenails. They were looking super haggard. And yeah, I still wear my flip-flops even when my polish is chipped.Talk to me about real shoes in November.

Monday morning brunch. Because, why not? Sometimes, you just want a ridiculous breakfast on a weekday.

I NEVER win anything on scratch-off tickets (not that I play all that often). But, Jason brought home these Cubs scratchers for me and I won $10 on the first set. He turned them in and brought me two more, and I won 14 big ones!

Typical.

I see no reason why we need to tell your father about this.

Table for one: having lunch in between appointments. I always thought I could never eat at a restaurant alone, and then I commuted to college and learned that I either had to eat alone or starve. Now, it's no big thing. And actually kind of nice, sometimes.

I'm about to google eye ALL the things. #VandalEyes Thanks Dollar Tree!
